Before Moving
- Ensure axes are homed (look for green ✓ indicators)
- Check current position to avoid collisions
- Know your printer's limits (bed size, Z height)
Safe Movement
- Move Z up before moving X/Y to avoid nozzle collisions
- Use smaller increments when approaching limits
- Watch the printer during movement
After Homing
- Homed status updates automatically via Moonraker WebSocket
- Position displays show accurate coordinates
- Safe to perform precise movements
Troubleshooting
Position Not Updating
- Check Moonraker connection (header status)
- Verify axes are homed
- Look for error messages in console
Can't Click Coordinates
- Ensure position bar is visible (press
p) - Check mouse is clicking on the coordinate values
- Verify not in temperature editing mode
Movement Fails
- Check axes are homed first (home all with 🏠)
- Verify coordinates are within valid range
- Ensure printer is not in error state
Advanced Usage
Relative vs Absolute Positioning
The position bar always shows absolute coordinates (G90 mode). When you click and enter a value, it sends an absolute G0 command.
To use relative positioning:
G91 # Switch to relative mode
G0 X10 # Move 10mm in positive X
G90 # Switch back to absolute modeCustom Feed Rates
The position bar uses F3000 (3000mm/min) by default. To use custom feed rates:
G0 X200 F5000 # Move at 5000mm/minMulti-Axis Moves
For moves involving multiple axes, use the console:
G0 X200 Y200 Z50 F3000Next Steps
- Temperature Bar - Monitor and control temperatures
- Console - Send custom G-code commands
- Position Control Tab - Additional movement controls
